Dear Prospective Camp Family,

Are you looking for a summer camp that provides fun, instruction, and valuable lessons that your child will carry with him or her for years to come? If so, you have come to the right place! For over 50 years, Georgetown Prep Summer Programs have offered the perfect combination of instruction and fun all within the beautiful and safe 100 acre campus of Georgetown Preparatory School in North Bethesda, MD.

No matter what you are looking for in a summer camp, we believe that we have a program that will fit your son or daughter perfectly! Our Sports Camps are tailored to the needs and abilities of the individual camper. They are designed to challenge the more experienced athlete to take his or her game to the next level, and to build the fundamental skills and groundwork for our intermediate and beginner athletes to succeed as they take on new challenges. All of our Sports Camps divide their groups based on age and ability to maximize the quality of instruction and competition during the camp day. Our Sports Camps staff is comprised of current and former high school and college coaches as well as current collegiate and professional athletes.

Perhaps you have a younger child who is not quite ready to spend a full day of camp focusing on one sport or is simply looking for more variety. If this is true, our Little Hoya Day Camp offers campers a chance to try a little bit of everything and learn the basic skills of many sports and other fun activities--setting them up for success in the future and helping them chose the sports and activities that suit them best!

Through our highly-trained staff members and unmatched athletic and academic facilities, we are committed to the education and positive development of each camper. It is our belief that summer camp can provide some of life's greatest lessons, friendships, and memories. The Georgetown Prep Summer Program is committed to excellence in everything that we do and strive to provide each camper with a positive summer experience that will last him or her a lifetime.

All Georgetown Prep Camps run from 9:00am - 3:00pm.

Camps all run based on 1 week sessions; however you may sign up for as many weeks as you would like.

Facilities

Georgetown Prep has 9 athletic fields, 4 academic buildings and the brand new Hanley Center for Athletic Excellence.

Before & After Care

GP Camps provides before care beginning at 7:15am and an after care program that runs until 6:30pm.

The before and after care programs are structured as camps that provide the campers with different options and activities. The after care staff is comprised of extremely responsible college graduates that have not worked at camp during the day. A light snack will be provided to all after care campers.

Lunch

Campers should bring their own lunch in a bag clearly marked with their first and last name. We are acutely aware of life-threatening food allergies and take great precautions in maintaining a safe and sanitary environment for our campers to eat. If you have specific questions about how we handle food and other allergies, please do not hesitate to contact us. We do not refrigerate lunches; however, they are kept in an air-conditioned safe environment during the day.

Summer Heat & Inclement Weather

Heat exhaustion, sunburn, and dehydration are taken extremely seriously by the Georgetown Prep Camp Staff. We believe our best defense against these situations is a pro-active approach to educating campers on methods to prevent harm and an extremely conscious plan and attention to detail in taking water breaks, shade breaks, and indoor air-conditioning breaks when appropriate. We maintain cold-water coolers in each camp area and campers are encouraged to constantly re-hydrate. We always have a Certified Athletic Trainer on staff at all times and our camp staff is CPR and First Aid Certified to handle any situation should an emergency occur.

In the case of inclement weather, camp will always take place! We do our best to keep the camp day on schedule, however, safety is our first priority. If bad weather is approaching, the camp director will make a decision to move all outdoor activities inside. We are uniquely capable of handling all of our campers in the Hanley Center for Athletic Excellence and oftentimes we can carry-on camps in the same manner that they would take place outdoors.

Equipment

Each camp has different equipment requirements that are outlined underneath the descriptions of the camps on the 2008 Programs page. However, campers should generally wear light, loose-fitting, and comfortable clothing. Campers are welcome to bring water bottles (clearly marked with their name) however we do provide water for all the campers during the day. We discourage campers from sharing equipment and encourage them to clean their equipment often.

Carpool Drop-off and Pick-up

Georgetown Prep has specific carpool instructions for summer camp that will be e-mailed to each family during the week prior to the week of their enrollment in camp.
